General Information
Q: What are the Nova Star Awards?
A: The Nova Star Awards celebrate talented youth from around the world in acting, film, TV, modeling, music, and digital arts. It’s an international platform that recognizes creativity, confidence, and artistic growth.
Q: Who can submit?
A: Anyone ages 4–21 can submit — from beginners to experienced performers. Entries can be from Canada or international. Both independent projects and work produced through an agency, school, or studio are accepted.
Q: Is Nova Star only for actors?
A: No! We welcome submissions in acting, film, modeling, singing, dance, creative arts, and digital performance. If it showcases talent and creativity, there’s a category for you!
Q: What if my movie/commercial or film was in 2024 but aired out in 2025 or released in 2024. Can I still submit?.
A. Yes absolutely! Submit your work link, categories, age at that time of performance, and the correct title on the submissions form .
CATEGORIES & REQUIREMENTS
Q: What categories can I enter?
A: Categories include:
•Acting (Monologue / Scene / Short Film)
•Modeling / Fashion Presentation
•Music / Singing / Performance
•Dance / Movement Performance
•Creative Arts / Content Creation (short film, digital media, YouTube, or social project)
Q: Can I submit to more than one category?
A: Yes! You can enter multiple categories, but each requires a separate entry and submission fee.
Q: What are the age divisions?
A: •Mini Stars: 4–7 years old
•Rising Stars: 8–12 years old
•Teen Stars: 13–17 years old
•Young Adults: 18–21 years old
You will be placed in the correct division automatically based on your age at the time of submission.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Q: How do I submit my entry?
A: Submissions are done online through our website. You’ll need to:
1.Complete the submission form.
2.Upload your performance video, file, or link (YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive).
3.Pay the submission fee.
4.Wait for your confirmation email.
Q: What kind of video can I send?
A: For acting, submit a monologue or scene (30–90 seconds). For music or dance, submit a clear performance video. For modeling, submit a short runway walk or photo portfolio. Keep files under 3 minutes unless otherwise stated.
Q: Can I send group or team entries?
A: Yes! Groups or duos can apply under one submission if the project was performed together. Make sure to list all team members.
Q: Do you accept international submissions?
A: Absolutely. Nova Star is a global platform — we proudly accept entries from all countries. All videos must be in English or include English subtitles.
FEES & DEADLINES
Q: Is there a submission fee?
A: Yes, a small administrative fee applies per category to cover judging and processing costs. Fee details are listed on the submission page.
Q: What is the deadline to submit?
A: Submissions for the 2026 Nova Star Gala close on May 31, 2026. Early submissions are encouraged, as categories may fill up before the deadline.
SELECTION PROCESS
Q: Who judges the submissions?
A: Entries are reviewed by the Nova Star judging panel — a mix of entertainment professionals, acting coaches, producers, and industry mentors. All entries are evaluated fairly and privately.
Q: What are the judges looking for?
A: Creativity, emotional expression, originality, and overall performance. We look at potential and presence, not just experience or production quality.
Q: How will I know if I’m nominated?
A: Official nominees will receive an email notification and social media announcement once judging is complete. Nominees are invited to attend the Nova Star Gala in June to receive recognition.
AFTER SUBMISSION
Q: When will I hear back?
A: Notifications begin in late May 2026. Please check your email (and spam folder) regularly for updates from info@novastar.ca.
Q: What happens if I’m nominated?
A: You’ll be invited to walk the red carpet, participate in the award show, and possibly perform or be featured in media coverage.
Q: Can I update or replace my video after submission?
A: Unfortunately, once a submission is received, it cannot be changed. Double-check your link and video before submitting.
OTHER COMMON QUESTIONS
Q: Do I need professional experience?
A: Not at all. Nova Star welcomes newcomers! It’s about celebrating creativity and passion — not fame or perfection.
Q: Can I still submit if I don’t live in Canada?
A: Yes. International participants are welcome and may join virtually or attend in person if they wish.
Q: Can my school, studio, or agency submit on my behalf?
A: Yes! Teachers, agents, or parents can submit entries for their students or clients as long as consent is given.
Q: Who do I contact if I have questions about submissions?

- Please submit a workable link (Vimeo or YouTube unlisted) without a password.
- Your work must have aired in 2024 unless it’s a Blooper, Throwback, Self-Tape, Demo Reel, or Novalogue.
- Please select your best clip, up to 3 minutes maximum (do not include full movies or episodes).
- Only one submission per category is allowed (please select your best work).
- When sending a video link, include a headshot with your name and project name at the beginning of the video. For voice work, include a picture of your character at the beginning. This helps judges identify you.
- Submissions must be made under the performer’s name only.
